Verdew Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Verdew ("the app") tells you when to do seasonal lawn tasks, timed to your local weather. It is published by Ziko LLC, a Washington limited liability company ("we", "us"), which is the data controller for the limited data described below.

This policy explains what the app does and does not collect, and who processes the limited data it sends off your device. We've written it to match what the app actually does, with no boilerplate claims about data we don't touch.
Short version: Verdew has no sign-up and asks for no name or email. It creates an anonymous account automatically. What leaves your device is tied only to that anonymous token: the ZIP you enter (to look up your local weather), your lawn's size and zones, a record of the tasks you log as done and how you respond to reminders, counts of how often you open the app, optional crash diagnostics you can turn off, and a device push token so we can send reminders. We show no ads, run no third-party tracking, and never sell your data. A single switch turns crash and usage reporting off, and Yard → Delete my data erases everything.
Information stored only on your device
The following never leaves your phone. It lives in the app's local storage and is deleted when you uninstall the app:
- Your onboarding progress and the last lawn size the app saw (so a task logged from a notification still shows the right amount).
- Any reminder taps queued while you were offline, waiting to sync.
- The next-task summary the home/lock-screen widgets read.
- Your anonymous sign-in session (kept in the device keychain so your account survives a reinstall).
We cannot see any of this, and it is never uploaded.
Information sent off your device
To plan your tasks and send reminders, the app sends a small amount of data to the services listed below. It is not linked to your real-world identity.
- Anonymous sign-in token. The app signs you in anonymously (no email or password). This random identifier ties your lawn and task records together and lets them survive a reinstall. It is not tied to your name, email, device contacts, or any personal account.
- Your ZIP code. Used only to look up your local weather forecast. We derive approximate coordinates from it; we do not read your device's GPS or precise location.
- Your lawn. Its size and any zones you set up, so we can tell you how much product to apply.
- Your task activity. Tasks you log as done (what, how much, when) and how you respond to reminders (done, snooze, dismiss), so the app can plan the next task and tell which reminders are useful. Counts of how often you open the app, per day. These contain no personal information and are tied only to the anonymous token.
- Optional crash and diagnostic reports. If a crash or unexpected error occurs and reporting is left enabled, the app sends a diagnostic report (the error and its stack trace, and basic device/OS information — model, OS version, app version) to help us fix the bug. It carries no identity, no IP, and no personal information. Crash reporting is governed by the "Share usage analytics" setting in Yard; when that is off, no crash reports are sent.
- Sign in with Apple (optional). If you choose to back up your account, we store only the opaque identifier Apple gives us so you can restore on a new device. We do not request or receive your name or email from Apple.
- Device push token. Once you allow notifications, the app stores your device's anonymous Apple push token on our backend so reminders can reach your phone. It is device-routing data tied only to the anonymous token, not to your name or email, and is never used to build an advertising profile or sold.
Service providers
The app relies on these processors to function. They handle only the limited data described above, under their own privacy terms:
- Supabase — backend, anonymous authentication, and storage of your lawn, task records, and device push token, each readable only by you. As our hosting provider, Supabase (and its Cloudflare network edge) also processes your device's IP address transiently to route and secure each request.
- National Weather Service (weather.gov) — we fetch forecasts from this U.S. government service using coordinates derived from your ZIP. No account identifier is sent to it. (Forecast data from NWS, public domain.)
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — delivers reminders to your device using the anonymous push token.
- Sentry — anonymous crash and diagnostic reports, only if you leave the "Share usage analytics" setting enabled. Sentry is configured with no PII and no user identity, so reports carry no identity or IP.
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple — if you use it, authenticates you and returns only the opaque identifier described above.
We do not share your data with anyone else.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise (GPS) location, advertising identifiers, or payment details (the app is free). The app contains no third-party advertising and no session or screen recording, and does no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
If you email us. If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address and message, use them only to reply, and will delete them if you ask.
A note on IP address and approximate location. As with any app that talks to a server, connecting to our backend transmits your device's IP address to our hosting provider (Supabase, via its Cloudflare network edge), which may use it to derive an approximate location (a city or region) and to route and secure the request. We do not store it, use it for analytics, or link it to you.
Your choices and rights
- Turn off reporting: Yard → Share usage analytics stops crash and usage reporting.
- Delete everything: Yard → Delete my data permanently removes your account and all associated data, and (if you linked Sign in with Apple) revokes that connection.
- You may ask us about the data tied to your account at [email protected]. We never sell or share your data, and these choices apply wherever you live.
Forecast data is cached by location only, contains no personal information, and expires automatically.
Children
Verdew is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will update the date above.
